< Transmission Media Practice Series > is an experiment on medium which seeks to bridge the physical and the virtual. Converts the handmade object to a digital object through a stamping method rather than 3D scanning. This art practice* attempts to investigate the relationship between technology and capitalism, existence and the self. How can we interpret the virtual counterparts of the material existence?

Capital-Rhythm, 2022

< Capital-rhythm > is a world within VRChat constructed around the prompt “K-pop debut performed by capitalism.” In this project, K-pop is a dance music genre with group choreography of idolized singers, idols. The project explores the K-pop phenomenon as a reflection of our increasingly enumerable culture in parallel to technological development. The prompt stemmed from my interest in the desire to mirror our times through art. What is the essence of the culture of our times, and how can artists capture it within their work? What is the inner need of capitalism that perpetuates the creation and distribution of popular culture objects? By contemplating the causality of the coercive nature of commercial culture in the form of sound and image in the entertainment industry, we can think about the present and future of the social system we live in.
